WEATHERFORD – Tristian Anthony’s walk-off double in the bottom of he seventh inning provided Tecumseh with a 2-1 victory over Weatherford Thursday in opening-round play of the I-40 Classic Tournament.

Anthony’s two-bagger scored Kameron Permetter, on via a single.

It was coach Jeff Shafer’s 500th career coaching victory.

Tecumseh opened the scoring when Byron Thompson crossed the plate in the bottom of the sixth. Weatherford knotted the score in the top of the seventh.

Anthony also excelled on the mound, notching a route-going four-hitter.

Tecumseh’s only error of the game made Weatherford’s run unearned. Weatherford also committed just one error.

Anthony fanned four and walked three. He threw 95 pitches, 57 of which were strikes.

Savage leadoff hitter Kullen Meadows posted two singles as the Savages finished with six hits.

Tecumseh stranded six runners. Weatherford stranded five.

The Savages were the recipients of four walks.

Tecumseh will go up against Lookeba-Sickles at 7 tonight in further I-40 action.
