NOBLE — An early Bethel lead evaporated in a disastrous fourth inning Thursday at the Little Axe Invitational.
By virtue of scoring three runs in the bottom of the second inning, Bethel held a 4-3 lead over Muenster, Texas entering the fourth inning.
Muenster exploded for 10 runs in the top of the fourth and went on to record a 14-4 victory over the Wildcats.
The game was stopped after five innings on the run rule.
Muenster combined 11 hits, including four doubles, with seven walks. Bethel was also guilty of five errors.
Bethel posted five hits, all singles, The hits came from Jaylon Gordon, Jake Williams, Terrell Dodson, Cameron Egger and Ben Lauck.
Carter Monday started on the mound for Bethel but was relieved by Cache Hankins in the first inning. Hankins went 3 1/3 innings, permitting eight hits and eight runs. Only two of the runs were earned. Hankins fanned three and didn’t issue a walk.
Bailey Raines went the final 1 2/3 innings. He permitted four runs, three of which were unearned, and three hits.
Bethel (5-10) will continue Little Axe Invitational action today against Newcastle at 3:45 and Little Axe at 6.
