KINGSTON — Class A fourth-ranked Calera whipped Class B sixth-ranked Asher 9-1 Friday at the Kingston Tournament.

Asher scored its sole run in the top of the first inning on Chase Eckart’s run-scoring single. Eckart finished with two singles.

The game was stopped in the fifth inning on the run rule.

Starter and loser Braden Sanders surrendered eight runs in four innings. He permitted eight hits, fanned five and walked five.

JR Hasbel went just one-third of an inning, giving up one run and two hits.

Asher, 8-5, will conclude its tourney stay at noon today opposite Spiro.

The Indians will entertain Allen Monday.
