MCLOUD – Latta handed Dale their first back-to-back loss of the season Saturday with a 4-3 Pirates loss in the third-place game of the McLoud Tournament.

Blake McQuain singled to bring home Bryce Crawford in the top of the first and go up 1-0. Scout Capps took a walk to bring home Crawford again in the third and McQuain was brought home on a single by Drew Reed to take a 3-0 lead.

Latta got two runs back in the bottom of the third on a pair of doubles to get within one and and took the lead on a sacrifice and RBI single in the fifth and held on for the win.

Cooper Hunt got the start for the Pirates and pitched through the first two outs of the sixth. He walked three and struck out one and gave up four runs on seven hits. Carson Hunt came in and closed things out.

Crawford was 3-4 and Reed was 2-4. No member of the Pirates had an extra base hit.

Dale (10-3) will play at Chandler monday at 5 p.m.
