LITTLE AXE — Pitcher Ben Lauck scattered 10 hits Friday, igniting Bethel to a 6-1 triumph over Little Axe after dropping an earlier 11-9 decision to Newcastle at the Little Axe Invitational.
Lauck fanned eight and walked three as Little Axe stranded seven baserunners.
Contrastingly, Bethel made the most of its five hits with Lauck and Gunner Smith having a double apiece.
Smith finished with two hits. Jaylon Gordon and Terrell Dodson singled. Bethel was also the recipient of five base on balls.
Newcastle led Bethel 7-2 after five innings and 11-4 entering the bottom of the seventh. Bethel scored five times in its half of the seventh before coming up just short.
Cameron Egger went 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and four runs batted in.
Smith tripled, singled and scored three times.
Gordon added three singles and Dodson doubled.
Bethel is 6-11 entering today’s 2 p.m. Invitational clash with Christian Heritage.
