NOBLE – The Shawnee boys soccer team beat out Noble 1-0 for a hard fought third-place win at the Rose Rock Invitational in Noble Saturday.
Lucas Gann had the lone goal for the Wolves, assisted by Seth King in the 53rd minute of the game.
The Wolves put ten shots on the Noble goal while allowing three on their own. Tristaan Haddad picked off the three saves easily, coach Jason Merrell said.
Shawnee's offense struggled to get through a tough Noble defense but eventually caught the break they needed and scored a goal.
“We had a hard time getting through... we kept plugging, kept plugging and finally broke them,” Merrell said.
Shawnee is 7-1 on the season after suffering their first loss Friday night against Durant and will host Capitol Hill Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the Wolves' district opener.
