OWASSO — A superb relief performance by Hayden Tallman carried Owasso to a 6-4 triumph over Shawnee Tuesday night.
Tallman, who relieved Brayden Lloyd with one out in the third inning, gave up no runs, just one hit and fanned seven in 4 2/3 innings.
Shawnee led 4-1 after scoring three runs in the top of the third before Tallman closed the door.
Owasso put across three runs in the bottom of the third, then added single runs in the fourth and sixth.
Shawnee, 8-6, finished with only four hits, including Kade Self’s double. Collecting singles for Shawnee were Scout Cawvey, Jay Easley and Jacob Hill. Hill and Easley drove in a run.
Cameron Thompson had a two-run double for the victors.
Shawnee pitching starter Cale Reed surrendered five runs (all earned) in five innings. He whiffed six and walked four.
Brandon Eropkin, who relieved Reed, allowed two walks and a run before Jay Easley took the mound. Easley fanned two and didn’t permit a hit in one inning of work.
Owasso inflicted a 21-2 setback on Shawnee Monday in Shawnee.
Shawnee, 8-6, will travel to Yukon Friday for a 5:30 matchup. The Wolves will go to Duncan Saturday for a noon contest.
