BETHANY — Tecumseh’s Savages went 1-1 Thursday at the Bethany Tournament, blasting Del City 16-4 before being nipped 2-1 by Putnam City.

Against Del City, Tecumseh combined 10 hits with eight base on balls.

The Savages tallied six runs in the bottom of the first inning, added nine more runs in the second and finished the game on 10-run rule in the third.

Tristian Anthony tripled, doubled, scored twice and drove in four runs. Teammates Kullen Meadows, Byron Thompson and Kane Ainsworth doubled. Jayden Shafer was 2-for-2, scored three times and drove in two runs.

Meadows, in three innings on the mound, permitted four runs, five hits, fanned five and didn’t issue a walk.

Tecumseh scored its sole run against Putnam City in the bottom of the first on Jayden Shafer’s run-scoring single.

Putnam City pitcher David Morton allowed only four hits, whiffed six and walked four.

Gage Boatman doubled for the Savages.

Shafer started on the mound and gave up two runs on four hits. He fanned eight.

Thompson, in two innings of work, permitted one hit, fanned three and walked one.

Tecumseh, 11-10, will continue tournament action at 5:30 today against Perry at Putnam City High School.
