DALE — Class 4A top-ranked Dale walloped Newcastle 12-0 Monday to improve to 23-2.

Dale finished with 13 hits, including Delanie Manning’s team-leading 25th home run, in the three-inning, run-rule game. Manning was also walked twice to bring her season total to a team-high 39.

Mikayla Rutland added a double and single. Rutland is second in team home runs with 23.

Sara Lock, Skylar Thompson and London Calvillo recorded two singles apiece.

Newcastle was limited to two hits.

Dale was scheduled to entertain Maud today but the Lady Tigers cancelled.

The 40-team Dale Festival at Fire Lake will be played Thursday and Friday. Coach Andy Powell’s Lady Pirates will test Latta at 10 a.m. Thursday, followed by an 11:25 a.m. contest versus Southmoore.

On Friday, Dale will play three games — Beggs at 11:25 a.m., Binger-Oney at 12:50 and Duke at 6:30.

“We played pretty good Monday,” Powell said. “We are looking forward to the weekend. There’s a lot of good competition.”
