Aided by a heavy wind blowing out, Class 4A top-ranked Dale unloaded 14 home runs Thursday in leveling Latta, 17-9, and Southmoore, 15-6, at the Dale Slow-Pitch Festival at the FireLake Ballfields.
Against Latta, Delanie Manning had two home runs, two singles and three runs batted in.
Sara Lock and Rylie Premo notched two home runs each as Dale went to 25-2. Mikayla Rutland also homered.
Premo fashioned four RBI while Lock had three as Dale scored in five of six innings.
Rutland picked up three more home runs against Southmoore and knocked in seven runs. Manning had four hits, including two home runs and a double, while driving in three runs.
Jobey Savage added a double and two singles. Premo chipped in with two doubles.
Manning raised her season HR total to 29. Rutland has 27.
“We obviously hit it pretty well” Dale coach Andy Powell said. “With the wind blowing out, we knew we had to score a lot of runs against these teams”.
Dale has three Festival games slated today —1:25 a.m. versus Beggs, 12:50 against Binger-Oney and 6:30 against Duke.
