OKLAHOMA CITY — Shawnee’s No. 2 doubles team of Hayden Powell and Kayla Garza went 2-1 Monday at the Guthrie Invitational held at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center.

Powell and Garza, after losing to Christian Heritage 6-4, 4-6, 5-10, rebounded for victories over Piedmont, 6-2, 6-1, and Durant, 6-0, 6-2.

Kristin Gilbert, Shawnee’s No. 1 singles entrant, and No. 2 singles performer Olivia Stobbe, captured their first-round match before losing three matches, thus finishing eighth.

Gilbet’s win came over Bailey Beaver of Guthrie, 6-2, 6-3. Stobbe defeated Katelyn Click of Putnam North, 6-7, 6-0, 10-5.

The No. 1 doubles team of Kenzie Yort and Karsyn Reed placed 10th, going 1-2. Their win came over Putnam City North, 6-0, 6-1.

Shawnee will play in the Pauls Valley Tournament Friday.
