In the women’s game, Lubbock Christian went to 10-5 in the conference — good enough for second place — and 15-6 overall with a 77-58 triumph.
The visitors hit all 14 of their free throws and out-rebounded St. Gregory’s 32-23.
Brittania Simmons led St. Gregory’s with 15 points and teammate Leticia Silva chipped in with 11.
St. Gregory’s is in 10th place in the 12-team conference standings at 3-10, and is 8-13 overall.
Lubbock Christian had four players in double figures as Brittany Hampton served as the ringleader with 20 points. April Ehlers chipped in with 15.
St. Gregory’s trailed 34-25 at the half.
In the men’s nightcap, St. Gregory’s fell to 0-13 in the SAC and 8-13 overall by dropping a 77-65 decision to the Chaparrals.
Lubbock Christian, 13-8 overall and 8-7 in the SAC, held a 38-24 halftime advantage.
Kenny Hewitt of Lubbock Christian tallied a game-high 28 points, including a 6-of-11 outing from beyond the 3-point line. Lubbock Christian hit 46.2 percent (12-of-26) of its 3-point efforts.
In double figures for St. Gregory’s were Jade Carter (18), Fayzon Richey (14) and Ryan Florie (12).
The Cavaliers connected on 42.1 percent (24-57) of their field goals, including a 44-percent (11-of-25) effort from 3-point range.
