FORT VANCOUVER, Wash. — Oklahoma Baptist finished off cross country season with a 15th place men’s finish and 22nd place women’s finish at the NAIA National Championship at Fort Vancouver, Wash., Saturday.
The Bison finished with 409 points and on the heels of SAC champion Oklahoma Christian, which placed 13th at 390 on the strength of national individual champion Silas Kisorio.
Malone won the men’s title.
The Lady Bison were 22nd with 470 points. Cal State-San Marcos won the team championship by three points.
Nathan Ellis led the Bison in 64th place with a time of 26:15 with Craig Donnelly 72nd in 26:22. Brandon Dickinson was 117th in 26:39, Neal Ellis 122nd at 26:41 and Caleb Clark rounded out the scoring in 159th place at 26:59.
For the Lady Bison, Natalie Pedersen led the way in 103rd place at 19:54. Kayla Lee and Danielle Cummins finished in a pack of runners at 20:02.
Lee was 117th and Cummins 119th.
Jessica Herbert was the fourth Lady Bison at 20:14, coming in 149th, while Meredith Gardner was the final scorer, finishing in 20:32 for 190th place.
The race capped a strong season for the OBU teams. The men were runner-up in the Sooner Athletic Conference championship. They also won the OBU Duels and OBU Invitational.
Nathan Ellis, Clark and Stroup were All-SAC performers.
The OBU women claimed the SAC championship and had five all-conference honorees — Pedersen, Lee, Herbert, Gardner and Cummins.
The Lady Bison won the UCO Land Run, the OBU Duels and the OBU Invitational.
