Faith West Academy (Katy, Texas) All-State softball player Elissa Garbiso has signed to play softball at Oklahoma Baptist University.
A pitcher and outfielder, Garbiso was a TAPPS 3A All-State selection in both 2008 and 2009. She also was a standout in the classroom, earning Academic All-State two years and National Honor Society, as well as competing in the TAPPS 4A State Art Competition.
Garbiso pitched Faith West to the state finals in 2008, earning All-State tournament honors.
“I liked the great nursing program and the softball program,” Garbiso said. “I also liked the small, Christian school environment.”
Oklahoma Baptist is coming off a 29-29 season and a third-place finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
“We’re pleased to have Elissa on the roster,” said OBU coach Pam Fink.“She’s going to be a good fit for OBU overall.”
