A tremendous difference in the 3-point shooting department allowed East Central’s women to pull off a 74-70 victory over host St. Gregory’s Thursday night at W.P. Wood Fieldhouse.
The visitors from Ada knocked down 13 of 27 shots from beyond the 3-point line while St. Gregory’s missed all eight of its long-range attempts.
Krista Bullis, East Central’s second-leading scorer on the night with 20 points, was 6-of-9 from 3-point range. ECU’s Casi Rawls added 20 points and Regan Browne finished with 10, including three of her four attempts from 3-point range.
For St. Gregory’s, Carletta Hernandez was the game’s leading scorer with 23 points as she canned 8-of-16 shots from the field.
Scoring 14 points apiece for the Lady Cavaliers (4-2) were Leticia Silva and Jalisa Howard.
The hosts mauled East Central on the boards, 41-23, as Jalisa Howard was the ringleader with six. St. Gregory’s had 17 offensive rebounds.
Another factor in St. Gregory’s loss was 16 turnovers. East Central finished with 21.
The score was tied at 30 at halftime.
St. Gregory’s will be idle until a Nov. 30 game against Central Baptist College at Conway, Ark.
