Bison take two from Hastings

Oklahoma Baptist picked up a pair of walk-off wins against Hastings but only one was close as the Bison won 9-8 and 13-3 at Bison Field Friday.
Anthony Lopez hit a two-out solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to break the 8-8 tie in the opener after the Bison rallied to stay alive in the seventh and eighth innings of the scheduled seven-inning game. It was the second home run and fifth RBI of the game by Lopez.
Hastings scored four runs in the first inning, but the Bison got two in the bottom of the first on a two-run triple by Lopez.
The Bison went ahead 5-4 in the third on an RBI double by Arin Fowble and a two-run home run by Lopez.
Hastings tied the game in the fifth and scored runs in the sixth and seventh for a 7-5 lead. Sean Iago singled and Billy Jarka hit a two-run, one-out home run to tie the game.
Hastings went up 8-7 in the top of the eighth, but Iago tied it in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double.
Fowble and Lopez had three hits each and Iago and Justin Trejo had two apiece to lead the 14-hit Bison offense.
Killi Vierra picked up the win with a scoreless inning of relief.
The Bison trailed 1-0 in the first inning of the second game but took control with a four-run first fueled by a three-run home run by Fowble and a solo shot by Lopez.
Fowble hit another three-run home run in the second for his sixth RBI of the game.
OBU added a run on a passed ball in the third and Lopez singled in a run in the fourth.
The Bison got the run-rule runs in the sixth on a solo home run by Jarka, an error and a two-run single by Jonathan Carnes.
Jarka and Fowble had three hits each while Anthony Ramirez and Lopez had two each.
Now 23-6, the Bison host Mid-America Christian Monday.
