Lady Cavs now 4-2 on the season

Lady Cavs now 4-2 on the seasonSt. Gregory’s women are now 4-2 on the season following an 88-78, come-from-behind triumph over visiting Bacone Tuesday night at SGU’s W.P. Wood Fieldhouse.
The Lady Cavaliers are now three wins ahead of last year’s one-win season.
The Lady Warriors were up 40-31 after the first half, but the Lady Cavs mounted a 57-38 second half to effect the 10-point final spread.
Five Lady Cavaliers scored in double figures, led by Jalisa Howard and Leticia Silva, who posted 16 points apiece. Both hit four of five shots from the free throw line, and six of their attempts from the field.
Howard and Silva also led the Lady Cavs in boards with nine rebounds each.
Brittany Davis added 14 to SGU’s total, hitting six of nine field goals and two of five foul shots.
Carletta Hernandez and Nicole Harris each posted 10 points for St. Gregory’s. Harris was 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.
SGU’s Brittania Simmons and Heather Anderson were 100 percent (3-of-3 for Simmons, 2-of-2 for Anderson) from the foul line.
Bacone’s Michelle Simmons was the contest’s only double-double player with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Simmons hit seven of 13 field goals, including two of four attempts from three-point range.
Amber Vickers was the only SGU player to connect from outside the arch, hitting one of her two tries.
All total, the Lady Warriors were 28-of-72 from the field and 12-of-19 from the free throw line, while the Lady Cavs were 34-of-69 and 19-of-25.
The Lady Cavaliers will host East Central at 7 p.m. Thursday. They will open Sooner Athletic Conference play Dec. 3 opposite visiting Mid-America Christian University.
