Four-year Seminole starting quarterback Garrett Clark, who threw for 2,330 yards and 24 touchdowns this past season as a senior, has committed to play football for Oklahoma Baptist University.

OBU will break a 73-year football drought when it again launches the sport in 2013.

Clark also rushed for 556 yards for Seminole head coach Mike Snyder during the 2011 campaign. The Chieftains recorded a perfect 10-0 regular season, then went 2-1 in the playoffs.

Snyder’s squad defeated Victory Christian 35-0 in the first round, then eliminated Verdigris 35-24 on the second playoff Friday. Seminole saw its season concluded with a 49-20 setback to Heritage Hall in the quarterfinals.

All three playoff games were held in Seminole.

Clark was intercepted only nine times during his senior campaign.

As a junior, Clark threw for over 2,000 yards.

In a News-Star preseason publication, Snyder said of Clark, “I don’t think I can say enough about the kid. I wouldn’t trade him for any quarterback in the state. You will not find another quarterback in this state that throws the ball as well as Garrett does.”

Clark became the second state player to cast his lot with new OBU coach Chris Jensen. Tyler Bayless, a 2011 graduate at Jones, will also be a Bison. Bayless was a standout linebacker for Jones.
