Hoping to rebound from last year’s 1-28 disaster, St. Gregory’s women will open the 2009-2010 basketball campaign Monday night with a 7 p.m. home assignment versus Central Baptist at W.P. Wood Fieldhouse.
The Lady Cavaliers won last year’s season opener, then dropped their final 28 games of the season.
St. Gregory’s was 0-22 in the Sooner Athletic Conference and finished in the cellar.
In the 2009-10 preseason coaches’ poll, the Lady Cavaliers were picked to finish 12h in the 12-team SAC. St. Gregory’s received just 13 points.

St. Gregory’s has brought in nine new faces to try and reshape the Lady Cavalier fortunes.
Returning for St. Gregory’s are Jalisa Howard, Lacey Craig, Amber Vickers and Allison Klick.
Howard led SGU in scoring last year while Craig brings three years of varsity experience to the floor.

Heading the transfer list is Carletta Hernandez, originally a Moore product who played at Western State College.
Other transfers include 6-foot post performer Brittania Simmons from Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Phoenix, Noelle Jackson from Cowly County Community College and Nicole Harris from Eastern Oklahoma State College.
St. Gregory’s men will open their season Thursday, Sept. 5 at Paul Quinn College. The Cavaliers will launch their home season at 6 p.m. Sept. 13 versus Hillsdale Free Will Baptist.
