Earlsboro’s Lady Wildcats let go a four-point lead Tuesday and dropped their 2009-10 basketball opener 45-37 to the host Stonewall Lady Longhorns.
The Lady Wildcats led 16-12 after the first quarter, but fell behind 25-22 by halftime. They were subsequently outscored 10-2 in the third, and a late rally came up short.
“We just kind of went dry,” said head coach Mark Maloy. “We just ran out of time.”
Megan Maloy led Earlsboro with 14 points, including a 2-of-4 night from three-point range. Loren Brannon was Earlsboro’s only other double-digit scorer with 10.
Miracle Gentry pitched in with seven points, and Kyla Hawkins, Arion Harris and Jordan Lasley added two each.
Harris led in rebounds with 11.
Now 0-1, the Lady Wildcats will travel to Strother for a 6:30 p.m. game Tuesday.
