Three area products have been named to the Oklahoma Softball Coaches Association All-State teams.
Selected to the Large East squad was Sidni Boyer of Shawnee. The daughter of Shawnee head coach Todd Boyer had a superb senior fast-pitch season, hitting .442 with 10 doubles, three triples and two home runs. She knocked in 31 runs, collected 34 hit and recorded 21 stolen bases.
Boyer was employed as both a catcher and center fielder.
“Sidni had an outstanding season and showed her versatility,” Todd Boyer said. “She will be sorely missed. She was a leader by example, both on and off the field. She was a very dependable and hard working player.”
Tecumseh’s Micha Laughlin was one of two catchers named to the Middle East squad.
Laughlin posted a .348 batting average her senior season while racking up 11 doubles and five triples.
“Micha has been a very hard worker for us and it has paid off,” Tecumseh head coach Chad Trahan said. She has been a joy to coach and we wlll sorely miss her next season.”
Also selected to the Middle East squad was shortstop Brittany Watson of Bethel. Coached by Tommy Block, Watson hit .368 and led the Lady Wildcats in doubles (10), triples (5) and stolen bases (21).
“Brittany was a very dependable player,” Block said. “She started at shortstop for four years and was our leadoff batter for four years. Defensively, she had very good hands and made very few errors.
“She almost always made the play. Brittany is one of the top players I’ve ever had.”
The All-State softball games are scheduled for June 12 at the University of Oklahoma.
