ASHER — Asher’s basketball teams fell to visiting Stonewall Friday, dropping the Indians to 2-1 on the season and the Lady Indians to 0-3.
Asher’s girls were unable to score in the first quarter and fell behind 16-2 in the first half before succumbing by a final of 29-10. The Indians led 12-11 after one quarter of the boys’ game, but were down 27-19 at halftime en route to a 61-51 setback.
Erin Casey led Asher’s girls with seven points, followed by Kellyn Price with two and Alisha Huggins with one.
Derek Claytor, Matt Johnson and Matt Palmer scored in double figures for the Indians with 16, 13 and 12 points, respectively. Zach Fowler pitched in with eight, and Fred Oliphant added two.
Asher’s teams will visit Wanette Tuesday, with the girls playing at 6:30 p.m. The boys’ game will follow.
