STROUD — Stroud’s Tigers — Class A’s No. 2 team — had little trouble keeping their record unblemished Friday night as they throttled visiting Savanna 54-6 in the first round of the 2009 postseason.
This puts the Tigers at 11-0 and up against Pawnee in next week’s second round.
The No. 12 Black Bears, who dished out a 58-18 stomping of Afton Friday night, will visit Stroud next Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Stroud’s Cody Pritchard led the game in rushing with two scores and 162 yards on 15 attempts. Teammate Jeremee Knipp contributed two touchdowns and 42 yards on eight scurries. All total, the Tigers dished out 291 yards on 54 rushes.
Austin Billingslea snagged three passes for 83 yards, and quarterback Andrew Miller finished the contest with a 5-of-7 effort for 107 yards, including a 21-yard scoring completion to Dakota Biswell.
The Bulldogs were held to just 11 yards through the air.
Pritchard scored from 3 yards out and Biswell collected the PAT kick to put the hosts up 7-0 early, and the Tigers eventually led 16-0 after one quarter and 42-0 at the half.
Savanna, who lost in the first round to Stroud in 2008, got on the board in the third quarter when quarterback Reedis James connected with Taylor Barr for a short scoring reception.
Stroud’s Tony Yocham punctuated the match on a 25-yard fumble return.
Stroud has given up just 74 points on the season.
