The Bethel Lady Wildcats, behind a strong third-quarter effort, downed the visiting Konawa Lady Tigers 43-38 Tuesday night.
Bethel trailed 19-18 at the half, but doubled up the Lady Tigers 14-7 in the third quarter. That gave Bethel a 32-26 lead heading into the final quarter of play. Bethel held on to earn its ninth win of the season against 10 losses.
Bethel was led by Kylee Tatum who scored 14 points. Bry Flanagan added a dozen for the Lady Wildcats.
Konawa’s Alisha Yellowfish scored 13 points while Haley Terry added 12 for the Lady Tigers.
In the nightcap, the Wildcats overcame a slow start to down the Konawa Tigers 39-24. Konawa jumped out to a 12-2 advantage after the first quarter. The lead would be short lived.
Bethel stormed back in the second quarter, out-scoring Konawa 17-3 in the second quarter to take a 19-15 lead into the half. Bethel never looked back.
Bethel’s defense held Konawa to just nine second-half points on their way to the 15-point win.
Braeden Burnett of Bethel led all scorers with 12 points. Clint Simmons added nine for the Wildcats, who improved to 10-8 with the win.
Bethel’s squads will entertain Dale Friday night.
