The Hornets of Macomb fell to 0-9 on the season with a 46-0 loss to Allen Thursday night in a District B-2 confrontation at Tecumseh High School’s Farris Willingham Field.
Macomb fell to 0-7 in the district when the mercy rule was invoked midway through the third quarter.
Allen (4-3, 6-3) led 12-0 after one quarter and 26-0 at the intermission.
Macomb was limited to four first downs, one of which came on James Turney’s 35-yard pass reception from Scotty Robinette in the first quarter. A junior, Robinette was making his first quarterback start.
Macomb went 2-of-10 through the airways while Allen did the brunt of its damage on the ground, rolling up 290 yards.
Macomb stayed close in the first quarter as Allen fumbled three times, losing two.
James Joseph of Macomb had two first-down runs, including an 18-yarder in the first quarter. His 6-yard run in the second quarter also produced a first down.
Macomb committed four turnovers — three interceptions and a fumble.
“The field was an absolute quagmire because of the rain we had,” Macomb head coach Justin Ellis said.
Ellis praised the play of Macomb defensive end Tim Hock.
“Tim put a lot of pressure on their quarterback,” Ellis said. “Every snap, he was putting on pressure.”
Macomb will conclude its 2009 season Thursday, Nov. 5, by entertaining Caddo at Farris Willingham Field
