BETHEL ACRES — Juniors Brandon Williams and Derek McMahon posted pitching victories Saturday as Bethel rang up convincing victories over Holdenville (17-0) and Stroud (14-1).
Both games went just 4 1/2 innings because of the run rule.
Williams (1-0) stymied Holdenville on one hit in four innings of work. He fanned seven and walked one. Reliever Justin Vermillion whiffed two and walked two in the fifth inning.
Bethel combined 13 hits with four Holdenville errors.
Collecting two hits apiece for the Wildcats were Eddie Kieffer, Dylan Lamb and McMahon. Kieffer socked a home run while McMahon added a double. Dylon Baine and Ethan Gingrich added a double apiece.
Bethel jumped out on top of the visitors with a seven-run first inning. The Wildcats didn’t commit an error in the game.
Against Stroud, McMahon (2-0) permitted three hits, fanned eight and walked one in five innings of work.
Bethel had only six hits but three Stroud hurlers walked 11 batters.
Jason Swafford led Bethel offensively, going 3-for-3, including a 3-run home run. Williams also had a 3-run HR.
Bethel tallied three runs in both the first and second innings, then put up an eight-spot in the third.
In a Friday game, the Wildcats blasted host Harrah 12-1 in just five innings. Bethel committed four errors but three Harrah pitchers combined to surrender eight hits and 10 walks.
McMahon drove in five runs off two doubles. Kieffer went 2-for-3 with a run batted in and Swafford added a single and three walks while scoring three times.
Swafford went to 2-0 on the mound with a five-inning one-hitter. He didn’t issue a walk while striking out 11.
Bethel (6-0) will take a short break before launching play Thursday in the Little Axe Tournament. The Wildcats will oppose Bridge Creek at 5 p.m.
