Sportsman Lake, located seven miles east of Seminole on Sportsman Lake Road, will have two benefit fishing tournaments Saturday, Oct. 18.
The Big Bass Tournament includes $1,050 in prize money with $150 going for the largest bass overall. $100 will also be awarded for the largest bass caught each hour and $100 will be presented as the result of a worst fisherman drawing.
The Big Bass Tournament goes from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a $40 entry fee per team/boat — if paid for on or before Oct. 7. Anyone paying the entry fee after Oct. 7 will be charged $50.
Only artificial bait or lures may be used. All bass must be caught on a rod and reel.
The Bank Fishing Tournament will have a combined $400 in prize money with $50 going for the largest fish (any species) each hour. The largest fish overall will also reap $50.
A $10 entry fee (per person) is required for the tourney, slated from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. If entered after Oct. 7, participants will be charged $15.
All fish must be caught on a rod and reel. Participants can’t use more than two poles at a time.
Deanna Hamilton, chairperson of the Sportsman’s Lake Development Commission, said the tournaments proceeds will help support Sportsman’s Lake. “It’s a non-profit event,” Hamilton said. “The benefits go to Sportsman Lake.”
In both tournaments, prize money will be split in the event of a tie.
Registration forms are available at the Seminole Chamber of Commerce, 326 East Evans, or at the Community Services and Water offices, 401 N. Main.
Anyone seeking further information can call 405-382-4330, ext. 230.
Hot dogs and cold drinks will be furnished to all participants at the end of the tournaments.
