Chapter members and guests gathered Nov. 20 at the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Powwow Grounds to celebrate the annual banquet and auction of the Shawnee Ducks Unlimited chapter.
A live and silent auction was held to raise money for DU’s continued conservation efforts, and all were treated to a barbecue meal catered by Van’s Pig Stand.
The Shawnee chapter was formed more than 30 years ago, and has since raised over $300,000 for Ducks Unlimited. The volunteer-based organization, formed in 1937, works to restore and conserve wetlands habitats across North America.
In the past 71 years, DU has applied close to $2 billion to this effort.
The organization boasts more than 700,000 members from the United States, Canada and Mexico.
