Oklahoma State’s football season opener at Washington State now will be televised.
Oklahoma State officials said Monday the Cowboys’ game on Aug. 30 will be on Fox Sports Net. The game will be played at Qwest Field in Seattle instead of on the Washington State campus in Pullman.
The Cougars will play in Stillwater in 2010. The teams have met only two previous times.
The game against Washington State will be Oklahoma State’s only nonconference road game of the season. The Cowboys will host Houston, Missouri State and Troy before opening Big 12 Conference play at home against Texas A&M on Oct. 4.
Cowboys’ pitcher to take part in national trials
DURHAM, N.C. (AP) — Oklahoma State pitcher Tyler Lyons has been invited to participate in the USA Baseball national team trials.
USA Baseball announced Monday a list of eight players who had accepted invitations, raising the total number of participants to 34.
Another Oklahoma State pitcher, Andrew Oliver, had earlier received an invitation to participate in the trials, which will be held June 11 to 23 at various locations.
Oral Roberts coach Rob Walton will be the national team’s head coach.
Shannon Miller honored
NEW YORK (AP) — Former UCLA softball coach Sue Enquist and Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller are the newest members of the International Women’s Sports Hall of Fame.
They were inducted along with former Japanese golfer Hisako Higuchi and Algerian track star Hassiba Boulmerka on Monday night at the grand opening of the Billie Jean King Women’s Sports Center in the new Sports Museum of America.
Dogfighting trials delayed
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The state trials of Michael Vick and three co-defendants on dogfighting charges will be delayed until the men are freed from federal prison, the Surry County prosecutor said Monday.
Hasek says goodbye

Agel to replace Brown’s head basketball coach
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Brown University didn’t look far for its new men’s basketball coach.
The Ivy League school announced Monday that it has selected assistant coach Jesse Agel to replace Craig Robinson, the brother-in-law of Barack Obama who left after two seasons to take the head coaching job at Oregon State.
Bears waive Benson

The Bears waived Benson on Monday after his second alcohol-related arrest in a month, ending a rocky three-season tenure in which he failed to live up to expectations after starring at Texas.
Holgren misses Seahawks’ minicamp
KIRKLAND, Wash. (AP) — Coach Mike Holmgren missed the Seattle Seahawks’ minicamp practice Monday with what a team spokesman emphasized was a minor medical procedure of an undisclosed nature.
Holmgren is expected to be back on the field leading drills Tuesday. Holmgren, who turns 60 on Sunday, has declared this will be his 10th and final year leading Seattle.
Sprinter sues for eligibility
Banned sprinter Justin Gatlin filed a lawsuit Monday in a last-ditch effort to compete at the U.S. Olympic track and field trials in less than three weeks.
The complaint alleges that penalizing Gatlin for a 2001 doping violation, which involved medication he was taking for attention deficit disorder, violates the Americans with Disability Act.
