Oklahoma Baptist track and cross country has signed Shannon Ray for 2012-13.
Ray, an all-region and all-conference athlete for Edmond Santa Fe High School, will run the 800, 1600, 3200, relays and cross country at OBU.
She placed fourth in the 6A State Championship 800 meters with a 2:20 last year and was 14th in last fall’s state cross country championship, earning honorable mention All-State status.
Ray has been named an Oklahoma All-Star, All-Edmond, Daily Oklahoman honorable mention and KFOR High School Senior Athlete of the Week her senior cross country season.
“I chose to come to OBU to further my education and be part of a track team that competes to win,” Ray said.
On the men’s side, OBU signed Ardmore’s JyWayne Allen. Allen will run the 200, 400 and relays.
Allen is a three-time statechampion with a school-record 47.4 in the 400 meters. His personal best in the 200 is 21.6 seconds. He alsows first and sixth at the Great Southwest Meet and fifth at the USA Track and Field Nationals.
