Allison Burger claimed the pole vault championship as Shawnee came in third Saturday at the Oklahoma Track & Field Coaches Association Indoor Championship.
Defending state runner-up (Class 6A) Edmond Santa Fe claimed the title with 65 points, followed by Edmond Memorial with 63. Rounding out the top five were Jenks with 54 1/2 points and Midwest City with 50.
The meet was comprised of 22 of the 32 teams in Class 6A.
Stephanie Enoch of Shawnee came in second in the 400-meters with a time of 63.5. Recording third-place finishes for the Lady Wolves were Miranda Dent in the 1,600 (5:59) and Errin Shaughnessy in the pole vault (9-6).
Ebony Campbell placed fourth in the 55 hurdles (10.09).
The 4X320 relay squad of Courtney Dearth, Burger, Shaughnessy and Enoch was second in the time of 3:19.2. The 640 relay unit of Jasmine Blackshire, Burger, Shaughnessy and Enoch were fifth (1:29.9), while the 3,200 relay squad of Dent, Dearth, Lexi Crowe and Jessica Cousins was sixth (11:13.1)
“I feel like most of the girls gave the team everything they had today,” Shawnee track coach Scott Wilkinson said. “The vaulters and distance runners gave great effort. Courtney Dearth, running in her first high school track meet, had a tremendous day.
“Allison Burger won the vault competition with a strong 6A field. To finish in the top three at this meet really sets the tone for our season.”
