BYNG — Ninth-ranked (Class 4A) Tecumseh saw its seven-game winning streak snapped Friday night with a 59-58 overtime setback to Byng.
Henry Weaver, who led Tecumseh with 23 points, missed a 15-foot jumper at the final buzzer of overtime.
Francisco Hukill added 14 points for Tecumseh and teammate Trey Dorsey supplied 12, including two 3-point field goals.
Byng had 22 free-throw opportunities, hitting 14. Tecumseh had just 10 charity attempts, knocking down five.
Tecumseh faced an uphill battle after getting behind 24-14 after one quarter. Tecumseh outscored the hosts 16-8 in the final quarter as regulation play ended in a tie at 51.
The Savages (17-2) fired up 17 shots from 3-point range but connected on just three for 17.6 percent.
Tecumseh hadn’t lost since a decision to Millwood in the finals of the Southern Nazarene Tournament.
Sentro Barnes led Byng with 17 points. Barnes didn’t play earlier in the season as Tecumseh defeated Byng.
In the girls game, Tecumseh trailed Byng 35-33 entering the final quarter but went on a 14-6 tear down the stretch for a 47-41 victory.
Montana Rickey was Tecumseh’s leading scorer with 13 points. Larryse Turner chipped in with eight and Devan Harris contributed seven. Harris also pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
