WEATHERFORD — Oklahoma Baptist collected a 70-66 win at Southwestern Oklahoma State Saturday afternoon, withstanding a late 12-3 run.
The Lady Bison never trailed after scoring the first four points on baskets by Taujhnae Travis and Vedrana Milakovic.
Southwestern was able to tie the game midway through the first half, but Gabriell Mattox scored four points in an 8-0 run to give OBU a 22-14 edge at the 6:18 mark.
OBU held a 29-25 edge at intermission.
The Lady Bulldogs got as close as three points before Samantha Smith scored four points in a 9-2 OBU run to get back to a 40-30 lead with 13:48 left.
Southwestern got the lead back down to seven points but OBU scored the next 10 points with five Lady Bison scoring two points each for its largest lead at 50-33. The hosts never got closer than 12 thereafter.
Travis finished with 22 points whole Jayme Glover added 12, including three three-pointers. Milakovic contributed 11 rebounds. Travis also had a game-high six assists while Glover led with three steals. OBU shot 42 percent from the field and forced 21 Southwestern turnovers.
Now 4-1, the Lady Bison take a break until Dec. 3 when they open the Sooner Athletic Conference season against Oklahoma City.
