Balanced scoring propels Prague

PRAGUE — Ten Prague girls scored Friday night in a 49-39 victory over McLoud.
The seventh-ranked, Class 3A victors used a 15-7 second quarter to build a 24-14 halftime lead.
Hillary Dixon and Kate Sprague led Prague with 10 points apiece. Heather Farrill chipped in with nine for the Lady Red Devils as they went to 17-1.
For McLoud, Kiley Newsom was the top scorer with 16 points. Kelci Estep connected on three field goals from 3-point range while notching 11.
Newsom was McLoud’s top rebounder with seven. Sprague spearheaded Prague with six rebounds.
McLoud is 7-11.
A one-sided first quarter gave way to a battle in the nightcap, but the 15th-ranked Prague boys dug in for a 47-43 win over the Redskins.
The Red Devils led 15-2 to start the second before McLoud netted four treys to cut the lead to 21-20 by halftime.
“They got back in the game and it was a battle all the way,” said Prague head coach David Day. “We persevered, and we won.”
McLoud’s Tim Boyer hit a pair of treys in the second quarter, and teammate Blake Worlund hit three on the night. Worlund and Prague’s Aftahn Linn shared high-scoring honors with 16 apiece.
Romel Bennett added 14 for the Red Devils.
Prague (12-6) led 38-34 to start the fourth quarter.
McLoud will entertain Jones Tuesday night. Prague will travel to Seminole.
