OKEMAH — Seminole’s Lady Chieftains improved to 11-7 on the year with a 62-52 dispatching of Okemah Friday night.
Down 11-8 after the first quarter, the Seminole girls bounced back and led by two at intermission. The Lady Panthers led again, 36-35, to start the fourth, but were outscored 27-16 down the stretch.
Okemah’s Gabby Dennis garnered high-scoring honors with 20.
Four Lady Chieftains made it into double figures, led by Carlye Tatum’s 19. Seminole’s Kendall Mills and Ashley Chupco added 13 and 11, respectively, and Paris Willis posted 10 for the victors.
Seminole’s boys were not as fortunate, dropping to 6-12 after a 99-45 drubbing by the Panthers.
“One thing about a game like that, they showed a lot of character by still trying to finish,” Seminole head coach Charles Kemp said.
“They fought hard to the end, and I’m proud of them for doing that. We’re going to keep playing.”
Seminole will host Perkins-Tryon Monday for a makeup game, and will host Prague Tuesday for homecoming.
