St. Gregory’s University’s soccer seasons — men’s and women’s — came to an end Tuesday in Shawnee.
The Cavaliers missed the postseason by one game, finishing up with a 7-9 overall record with a 1-0 win over Sooner Athletic Conference foe Oklahoma Christian. The victory put the Cavs at 4-5 against SAC opponents.
SGU finished the regular season in seventh place. Only the top six SAC teams go to the postseason.
Luke Keogh scored the game’s only goal Tuesday, putting the Cavaliers up 1-0 at the 6:36 mark in the first half.
Keogh and two other SGU players — Igor Manfro and Thomas McNamara — recorded a shot on goal. Manfro led in total shots with two.
Brock Vorwald posted 10 saves for the Cavaliers, while OCU’s Tim Spencer recorded two.
SGU 1, OCU 1 (Women)
St. Gregory’s women ended their 2009 season with a 1-1 tie Tuesday opposite Oklahoma Christian.
The Lady Cavaliers led 1-0 after the first half thanks to Shelby Rackley’s goal at the 13:55 mark. Rackley was assisted by Jennifer Alesch.
SGU had a total of two shots on goal, by Rackley and Madeline Williams. Taylor Cofer led OCU in shots on goal with three, while teammate Hope Helnen led the game in total shots with five.
The Lady Eagles knotted the score at the 62:29 mark on Chloe Harrison’s unassisted goal.
SGU’s Jennifer Tamber collected eight saves in the net, while Allie Cofer collected one for the Lady Eagles.
The Lady Cavs finish the season at 3-10-2 overall, and 1-7-1 in the SAC.
