Dale stomps Ripley, 17-1

LATTA ­— Dale had its hitting shoes on Thursday in lambasting Ripley 17-1 in just four innings.
The Pirates (10-2) notched five runs in the second inning, then poured it on with 12 in the third. Dale sent 18 batters to the plate in the third while accumulating nine of its 13 hits.
Dale had eight extra-base hits, including a solo home run by Trace Dilliner in the second inning. It was Dilliner’s seventh home run of the season.
Turner Coon deposited a triple while Tylor Holton finished with two doubles. Three Pirates — Namath Farriell, Dalton Streber and Tanner Goodwin — came in with a double and single apiece. Teammate Michael Harris added a double.
Right-hander Dustin Sanders (2-0) earned the pitching win by going the first two innings. Holton finished the game.
“We hit the ball pretty good, we pitched pretty well and we played pretty good defense,” Dale head coach Jerry Sanford said.
Dale will continue tournament play today at 7 p.m. against either Stuart or Vanoss.
