OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. —

OBU Yields to LCU
Twenty-fourth-ranked Lubbock Christian took Oklahoma Baptist University down in four sets in Sooner Athletic Conference volleyball action Saturday in Shawnee.
OBU won the first set, 25-23, and battled despite losing the second set, 25-22. LCU captured the last two sets by identical 25-15 margins.
Tasha White and Lacy Stone had five kills each in the first set and both converted 44 percent of their attacks with Brittany Palmer putting up 17 assists. OBU was good on 22 percent of the attacks as a team.
The Lady Bison improved that team percentage in the second match and gave LCU some problems, but the Lady Chaps rattled off 42 percent kills in that set and seized the momentum.
OBU’s rate dipped below 10 percent in each of the last sets.
For the match, OBU was led by Chassie Hamilton with 18 kills, followed by Kim Galarza with 11. Palmer finished with 44 assists.
Cassie Winker led OBU with 15 digs, followed by Palmer with a dozen. Stone had four block assists.
With the loss, OBU’s record slipped to 18-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play.
On Friday night, the Lady Bison also lost a match to Wayland Baptist. Like Saturday’s action, OBU won the first game before dropping the next three. The scores were 28-26, 19-25, 18-25 and 22-25.
The next action for the Lady Bison is Tuesday at 7 p.m. against St. Gregory’s in the Noble Complex.

A day after the Pioneers took a 3-1 win at Oklahoma Baptist, Wayland Baptist turned the same trick against St. Gregory’s Saturday.
WBU won the first game, 25-17, before SGU tied the match with a 25-21 win.
The Pioneers turned up their performances the rest of the way, winning the next two games with scores of 25-14 and 25-9.
