South Suburban Junior College forward Deangelo McIntosh is transferring to play for the Oklahoma Baptist University men’s basketball team for the 2011-12 season.
McIntosh, a 6-6 in-coming senior, averaged 12 points, 8.5 rebounds and was a 53 percent shooter from the field for SSJC. He also shot 39 percent from 3-point range and averaged 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game.
An All-Region IV First-Team selection, McIntosh led the team to a 30-6 record and averaged 14.3 points and 11.3 rebounds in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
Prior to South Suburban, McIntosh played a year at Arkansas-Monticello where he had 25 points and 13 rebounds in the season opener.
“Deangelo has a chance to be a special player,” said OBU associate head coach Kyle Tolin. “He is a great kid and his motor really runs. He can do lots of different types of things on the floor. We believe his character and work ethic fit in well with the guys we have coming back.”
