Four Lady Bison honored

Four Oklahoma Baptist University volleyball players were honored as members of the All-Sooner Athletic Conference team, it was announced Thursday.

Chassie Hamilton led the honorees, being named First-Team All-Conference and SAC Freshman of the Year. Hamilton, a freshman from Allen, Texas, led the SAC with a kill average of 3.91 per game. She also was second on the team with 40 aces and averaged 0.6 blocks per game.

Kim Galarza, a freshman from Amarillo, Texas, was named Second-Team All-SAC. She averaged 2.11 kills and shared the team lead in percentage at .213.

Lacy Stone, a freshman from Abilene, Texas, and Brittany Palmer, a junior from Colorado Springs, Colo., were both named honorable mention All-Conference.

Stone shared the team lead with Galarza in attack percentage and averaged 2.31 kills per game. She also led OBU with 1.12 blocks per game, including a school-record 132 assists.
Palmer led the Lady Bison in assists with 1,303 and a 9.11 average.

This was OBU’s first volleyball team since 1987. The team finished the season at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Tuesday with a 24-16 record. The 24 wins under first-year college coach Anna Monsen matches the third-most wins in a season in the program’s history. It was the most wins since the 1982 season.
