Earlsboro’s Wildcats started the 2009-10 basketball season at 0-1 after a 57-45 loss to Stonewall Tuesday.
The Wildcats fell behind 16-5 after the first quarter, and were down 34-17 at the break. A late rally came up short as the Wildcats outscored the host Longhorns 13-12 in the third and 15-11 in the fourth.
Zach Miller led Earlsboro with 20 points and seven rebounds, hitting eight of nine shots from the field. Austin Hopper contributed eight points, and Dion Wilds and Kyle Crow posted six apiece.
Dayvon Anderson and Doyle Stryker rounded out Earlsboro’s scoring with three points and two points, respectively.
As a team, the Wildcats were 16-of-29 from the field and 3-of-16 from three-point range.
Following last year’s retirement of head coach Jim Walling, the Wildcats are under the direction of Russell Parsons this season. Parsons served as head coach at Varnum High School from 1999 to 2006.
