Bethel keeps perfect record
LUTHER — Savanna Humphrey struck out 10 Luther batters as Bethel kept its record perfect with a 4-0 road win Monday.
The Lady Wildcats and Humphrey are both 8-0 after the three-hit shutout of the Lady Lions.
Offensively, Bethel’s Brittany Watson continued her early-season hot streak. The junior leadoff hitter went 3-for-4 with a trio of singles and an RBI. Jessica Simmons went 2-for-4. Bethel finished with eight hits overall.
The Wildcats took control early with two runs in the top of the first inning. They padded their lead with single runs in the third and seventh.
Bethel will be back on the road today for a varsity/JV doubleheader at Konawa that will begin at 4:30 p.m.
Earlsboro splits doubleheader
EARLSBORO — Earlsboro split a doubleheader with Wetumka Monday night, dropping a 13-3 decision in the first game, then logging a 9-4 victory in the second game.
In its opener, Earlsboro was outhit 8-6 but got a double apiece from Megan Maloy, Shania Bender and Bianca Gutierrez. Maloy also had a single.
In the second game, Maloy gave up four hits and fanned three. Arion Harris was on base three times. She singled, walked and was hit by a pitch.
Earlsboro (2-4) rang up five hits. The Wildcats will travel to Macomb Tuesday with the junior high game starting at 4 and the high schoolers going at 5:15.
Goodnight hurls two-hitter
MEEKER – Kristen Goodnight held Chandler to two singles Monday as Meeker rang up a 4-0 triumph.
Meeker opened the scoring in the first inning with two runs off two errors. The Lady Bulldogs added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Goodnight, in a seven-inning stint, accumulated seven strikeouts and walked just one.
Meeker (7-6) compiled four hits as Marissa Hackbarth was credited with two singles.
The Lady Bulldogs will play twice today at Meeker. Meeker will challenge Stroud at 4 p.m. and Luther at 7 p.m. Stroud will take on Luther at 5:30.
Pirates spank
two opponents
ASHER – Dale’s Lady Pirates had no difficulty Monday at the Asher Tournament, spanking Stratford, 8-0, and Wewoka, 13-0. The first game went just five innings while the nightcap went four.
Opposite Stratford, Holly Hill didn’t allow a hit and fanned 10 to move to 4-3.
Dale came up with 11 hits as Sammi Hembree and Leah Bohanon drilled three singles apiece. Sophomore Kendra Steward chipped in with two doubles.
Against Wewoka, Dale tallied four runs in the first, one in the second and eight in the fourth. Winning pitcher Ashley Sanford (2-0) gave up only one hit and fanned six.
The Lady Pirates compiled nine hits as Heather Anderson and Steward posted two doubles apiece. Anderson drove in four runs and Steward three.
Dale, 6-3, will continue tournament play today with a 7 p.m. game against Asher and an 8:30 contest versus Maud.
