For the second straight year, the 66 Conference Tournament girls’ trophy will reside in Prague.
With three players scoring nine or more points, third-ranked Prague fought past seventh-ranked Chandler 44-37 in Saturday night’s title game.
Senior Brooke Watkins headed Prague’s scoring with 11, followed by Alex Tilton with 10 and Heather Farrill with nine. Farrill and Corbin Coker had a trey apiece.
McKenzie Solberg of Chandler was the game’s leading scorer with a 24-point production that included three 3-point field goals.
Prague never trailed in moving to 14-1.
The Lady Red Devils were 6-of-11 from the line and Chandler was 7-of-14.
“Chandler is a good, solid club,” Prague coach Jay Depanion said.
The Prague boys finished their tourney stay with a 52-43 triumph over Seminole in the third-place game. Prague took a 36-33 lead into the fourth quarter and then out-scored Seminole 16-10.
Darnel Embry topped Prague’s offense with 17 points. Teammates Eli Oldham and Gage Auld finished with 10 apiece. Oldham was accurate on three 3-point shots.
Damon Cravens and Jayce Cravens led Seminole with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Jayce knocked down two fourth-quarter treys.
Seminole didn’t shoot a free throw and Prague (10-5) was 13-of-23.
Prague defeated Seminole 56-48 in an earlier matchup.
Both Prague teams play at Chandler Tuesday.
Chandler’s boys earned the 66 Conference Tournament consolation title Saturday with a come-from-behind 41-36 win over Perkins-Tryon. The teams shared a 17-all tie at halftime, and Chandler trailed 29-26 after three quarters.
The Lions rallied in the fourth quarter, 15-7.
