Meeker whips Wellston, Prague

MEEKER, Okla. —

MEEKER — Kristen Goodnight and Melissa Hackbarth authored pitching victories Thursday as Meeker whipped Wellston (6-1) and Prague (16-0).
In the seven-inning opener against Wellston, Goodnight hurled a five-hitter. She didn’t walk a batter and whiffed seven.
Elizabeth Sedlacek had a 2-run triple to go along with a double, while Kelsha Orso came in with three singles.
Hackbarth, a freshman, improved to 2-3 with a five-inning 2-hitter in the romp of Prague. Hackbarth surrendered two hits and fanned nine.
Three Meeker batters — Taylor Woodall, Goodnight and Erika McCutcheon — finished with three hits apiece. Woodall had a triple and three runs batted in while Goodnight knocked in four runs and had a triple. Orso notched a double.
Meeker (14-9) will be idle today, then will play two games Saturday. The Lady Bulldogs will take on Holdenville at noon and Perkins at 3 p.m.


McLoud 5, Dale 3
McLoud 9, Dale 8
DALE — Whitney Martin and Rikki Wooten notched two hits apiece Thursday as McLoud nipped Dale, 5-3. McLoud outhit Dale 9-8 in moving to 4-10.
Martin had a double and single, while Wooten collected two singles.
Amamda Harrell was Dale’s top hitter with two singles.
Dale (11-6) will play a varsity/junior-varsity doubleheader Saturday at 11 a.m. at Prague. The Lady Pirates will entertain Seminole Monday at 4:30.
McLoud will oppose Seminole at 10 a.m. Saturday.


Dewar 10, Earlsboro 0
MOSS — Earlsboro failed to register a hit Thursday as it dropped a 10-0, four-inning decision to Dewar in opening-round action of the Moss Tournament.
Shaina Bender of Earlsboro was the losing hurler, allowing nine hits. She fanned one and walked to in falling to 3-6 on the year.
The game was called on the run-rule.
Earlsboro (7-7) will continue tournament action today at 9 a.m. against the loser of a Thursday game between Roff and Weleetka.
The tournament continues through Saturday.


Bethel 18, Byng 0
BYNG — Savanna Humphrey chalked up two pitching victories Thursday as Bethel moved to 14-2.
Bethel upended Byng, 18-0, in five innings as Humphrey permitted three hits, fanned five and didn’t walk anybody.
The Lady Wildcats accumulated 13 hits as Brittany Watson was the ringleader with three. Compiling two apiece were Jessica Simmons, Michali Thompson, Humphrey and Tessa Pierce.
Bethel followed with a 10-1 decision over Seminole as Humphrey gave up three hits and fanned four in five innings.
Bethel again had 13 hits as Kayla Brown, Humphrey and Olivia Farris posted three apiece. Brown registered a double and single. Jessica Simmons added two hits.
Bethel will be idle until Monday when it entertains Tecumseh in a 4:30 varsity/junior-varsity doubleheader.
Shawnee rained out
Shawnee’s scheduled fast-pitch game at Ada Thursday was rained out. The game will not be made up, SHS head coach Todd Boyer said.
Boyer’s squad will entertain Harrah today at 4 p.m. in a varsity game only. Shawnee is 13-3 with one of those losses a 1-0 decision at Harrah.
