Shawnee combined seven hits with three errors by visiting Western Heights to record a 5-1 victory Monday.
Right-hander Ashley Brokeshoulder (5-2) was touched for just two hits. She had 11 strikeouts and didn’t give up a walk. The only Lady Jet run was unearned and came on a passed ball.
Brittany Hampton was Shawnee’s top hitter with two singles. Kaylee Allen had Shawnee’s only extra-base hit when she led off the game with a double.
Sidni Boyer of Shawnee had sacrifice flies in the fifth and sixth innings.
“We had other chances to score,” SHS head coach Todd Boyer said, Shawnee left the bases loaded in the third and fifth innings.
“We had one mental mistake defensively and had a couple of baserunning mistakes,” Boyer said. “We were able to make the routine plays.”
Shawnee (5-2) will serve as a host to Deer Creek today with the junior-varsity game at 5 p.m. and the varsity going at 6:30.
