TULSA, Okla. —

Tulsa police recovered three handguns at Booker T. Washington High School after school officials received an anonymous tip about a student with a gun on campus.

Tulsa Public Schools spokeswoman Tami Marler says the school was placed on lock-down status about 9 a.m. Wednesday and police started a room-by-room search. By noon officers found handguns of three calibers — a .357, a .38 and a .22.

Two were found stashed in a backpack in a classroom and the third was found hidden in another classroom. Both classrooms were occupied by students at the time.

Marler says police were questioning about five male students ranging in age from 14 to 16.

The anonymous tip came from a person claiming to be the parent of a Washington student.
