The Carter County Health Department is confirming the death of a child due to medical complications related to swine flu.
Details of those complications and the name and age of the child were not released Thursday.
The state Health Department has previously confirmed eight deaths — including three children — in Oklahoma related to swine flu. The illness is also known as the H1N1 virus.
The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says flu activity is widespread in 41 states — including Oklahoma. The CDC has said the swine flu has been most dangerous to children and young adults.
