Why are comments not making it in?
We’ve called several times and you never print our comments, so is it that you don’t print comments that speak positive about Obama or is it that you just don’t print comments that come from Blacks? Because every time that we called in, obviously you have space to print it because two days now you haven’t had any comments, so it couldn’t be you have too many comments to print.
Things that are run are discriminatory
I see you guys are still being discriminatory in what you print and so you only print what certain people write or call in. I don’t think that’s fair.
Scoopie’s reponse to the above two comments: Not sure what you are referring to, but we have specific guidelines concerning the Tri-County speaks. One of those is a 30-second time limit for the call, and among the others is prohibiting name calling. We are not discriminating and we don’t know the race of the person calling. This simply is not an accurate characterization.
Why no positive Obama comments?
Why is it that when anyone has something negative to say about President Obama, you can guarantee that it’s printed in the paper, but when someone calls in and says something positive, you can almost guarantee that no one will ever read that?
Scoopie’s response: This is not accurate. We do not pick and choose which comments we run based on any type of favoritism and without you being specific, we do not know to what you referring.
Project Gabriel helps those with children
First it was horses, now it is dogs. Have you ever heard of Project Gabriel? People helping human beings with little children. Mike, this one, when I googled the project comes up the Gabriel Project. [From Web site: The Gabriel project not only seeks to save babies, but also to save women from years (and sometimes eternal) spiritual darkness and death. It is a parish-based, “hands-on” help program that helps assure pregnant women that they will be helped. The Gabriel Project began in 1991.]
Why do pro-Obama letters run first?
What’s the matter? Ain’t nobody called in to trash Obama in your Tri-County Speaks? I guess they’ve all been positive calls. Any way, I think it’s very strange that every time you have a letter to the editor, bashing Obama, it comes first before the ones that talk nicely.
Scoopie’s response: We print letters to the editor as they come in, we can get them confirmed and processed. Those which normally get in the quickest are those which are e-mailed, the writer calls and confirms he or she is the writer and within the 400-word limit. On some occasions there is no way to reach the person to confirm authorship. It has nothing to do with political preference.
