The 5 W’s of today’s Reality House Party

Tonight is the Reality House Party, presented by Gateway to Prevention in an effort to educate adults about the dangers of underage drinking.
WHO:  Adults only.
WHAT:  A home tour set up to portray a teen drinking party with youth actors voicing concerns expressed by Shawnee teens and youth adults.
WHERE: The address of the party was given to participants at the time of registration.  
WHEN:  Today, with tours beginning at 4 p.m. and running every half hour through 9:30 p.m. Tours last 25 minutes with a short discussion afterward.
WHY:  Many adults believe drinking is a rite of passage and think drinking and parties are the same as when they were young. Several Shawnee youth want parents to face the realities and learn why and how adults are needed to help change these dangerous social norms.
