Heroes? Well, some people would say that my choice of a hero is not what they had in mind, but then again, they don’t know my sister!
There is just the two of us. Of course, she being the oldest, she always told me that mom and daddy found me on the corner, and decided to bring me home. She was so convincing I believed her until I was probably 5 years old.
One could say I was either gullible or she was convincing!!
My sister’s name is Linda Harris. She lives in Seminole and works as a bus aide for the Special Needs children along with her husband Larry, who is the bus driver and also custodian supervisor. They have been a part of the Seminole Public schools “family” for 16 and 22 years, respectively. I suppose taking care of me “groomed “her for the job she has now. They both love their “kids” on the bus!
Linda has always taken care of me, in a “big sister way,” and I have tried to take care of her, although she does most of the care-giving. We have been through divorces, both our parents, and each other’s. We have dealt with the deaths of our grandparents, parents, and step-parents, and all of the ups and downs that life deals you.
She is the one “constant” in my life. She listens to me, gives her opinion, whether I ask for it or not, but she always tells me what I need to hear, not what I want to hear. We each have our husbands, and while these relationships are special, there is nothing like having a sister to depend on.
I feel so blessed to have her as my sister, knowing she is always there for me, unconditionally. I am so glad we are close, and so grateful she is mine.
